DIY Tea Bag Holder – Perfect for a Tea Party

I’ve been sharing the wedding shower we had for my nephew’s bride to be.

We’ve decided on the Tea Party theme – we’ve created the tea bag cookies – and today I am sharing these special DIY Tea Bag Holders we are going to use as a part of the thank you gifts for all of the guests.

Using cardstock and scrap book papers that coordinated with the colors we used for the shower, my sister took the time to create all of the tea bag holders. She provided me with the step by step directions used to make them and I am sharing it with you here today.

DIY Tea Bag Holder

Beginning with cardstock (she used pink) cut it into 3 ½” X 7 ¾” pieces. Each piece was scored and folded 3 ½” from each short edge.

Cardstock Folded

Coordinating scrapbook paper was cut into 6 ½” X 7” pieces and scored at ½” along one long edge and 3 ½” from the other long edge.

Folded Paper

A decorative circle punch was used to make a half circle. Center the punch 2” down from the small fold edge on the outer edge of short side of the paper. This will allow you to easily pull out the tea bag once your holder has been created.

Half Circle Punch

Fold the paper on the scored lines and run a line of adhesive glue strips along the small folded edge.Fold over and join the edges.

Inner Paper Folded

Score the scrapbook paper 3 ¼” from each short edge and fold towards the center.

Run another line of adhesive glue strips down the spine on your folder.

Adding glue to the spine of the inner paper

Place it on the center of the cardstock folder created earlier.

Take a 12” piece of coordinating ribbon and attach with the adhesive to the center back of the cardstock folder.

Ribbon trim added to tea bag holder

Decorate the front of the DIY Tea Bag Holder in any way you choose. We used a square of the same scrapbook paper used in the center of our holder. It was then centered with a computer generated message, the bride and grooms name, and the wedding date.
