It’s wedding season and a season I love! In my forty year career as a floral and event designer, this was the time of year we loved. There is nothing better than seeing someone’s dream come together and to be a part of their special day! While I no longer have my own floral and gift shop, I still design for friends and family and I still love seeing dreams come true.
My favorite dream come true was my own daughter’s wedding – you can see that dream HERE and HERE.
Today I am sharing the special day of the daughter of my BFF, Sherrie.
Rustic Wedding In a Barn
I loved this day. It was so very special and was just the kind of wedding our bride had dreamed of – minus the rain – but we worked around that!
The location was a beautiful barn nestled on a wonderful, picturesque farm.
The bridal party got ready in a small cabin on the farm. Even the porch was decorated for the bride.
I loved the look on their faces as they saw each other for the first time.
The bride work pink and the groom wore blue.
Arriving at the barn, guests were welcomed with a sweet message from the bride and groom, created from an old, discarded pallet.
A large slab of wood served as the guest book, and messages were written by the guests attending and would be treasured by the bride and groom for years to come.
Large embroidery hoops, with lace accents, in a variety of sizes were hung from the rafters of the barn.
An old window paneled door was used to announce the wedding party.
The aisle was lined with shepherd hooks holding floral filled mason jars. The wedding was supposed to be held outdoors and the hooks would have been placed in the ground, but Sherrie’s husband had prepared for the possibility of rain and had created holders for the hooks.
A handcrafted initial of their last named accented the alter.
The ring bearer carried the ring on an old bible.
And this sweet little one dropped the petals for the bride to make her entrance on.
And the announcement of the bride was made by a special duo.
The strings of lights created a warm, intimate look for the ceremony.
The bride and the groom participated in a sand ceremony to signify the blending of their lives together.
A string heart, handmade by the bride and groom, graced the front of the cake table.
Ribbons and lace accented the simple three tiered cake.
The groom was treated to his own special cake.
The tables held simple touches of various jars trimmed in ribbon and lace. To see more on the creation of the table décor, visit HERE.
The bridal bouquets were placed into mason jars and served as the centerpieces on the head table.
The memory table was covered in a quilt fashioned by the groom’s mother and grandmother, and held photos and special memories of special people now in heaven.
An old metal mailbox, stenciled with the name of the new couple, served as the card holder.
A beautiful view of a cornfield could be seen as we set up the reception.
A little rain couldn’t drown the happiness of this special day!
